Anyone with diabetes is vulnerable to blindness that can progress without any pain or discomfort. The condition, called diabetic retinopathy, is completely preventable if identified early, and yet it is the biggest cause of blindness in adult working age population. Eyenuk has developed EyeArt, a fully automated diabetic retinopathy screening software which will go a long way in preventing vision loss in this large growing population with diabetes. Kaushal Solanki is the CEO and Founder of Eyenuk, Inc., where he leads the product vision and execution, and works closely with the team on regulatory and commercial strategy/execution. With his market understanding, business sense, and focus on clinical relationships, he is setting a solid foundation for Eyenuk to thrive. Kaushal pioneered the development, prospective clinical validation, regulatory process, and early commercialization of EyeArt, Eyenuk's flagship autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) product for automated detection of diabetic retinopathy. The EyeArt AI System was developed with funding from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is validated by the U.K. National Health Service (NHS). Prior to founding Eyenuk, Kaushal was a research scientist at Mayachitra, Inc., where he led cutting-edge DARPA and DoD projects on image analysis from concept to commercialization. Kaushal has a doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara. An accomplished academic, Kaushal has published widely in international journals, with his work cited over 1000 times. He holds several issued and pending patents, and has co-authored an edited book and several book chapters.
