Founding Story
Story Health was founded after co-founder and CEO Tom Stanis experienced his father's stroke and a personal health scare, which revealed threatening gaps in treatment often experienced by high-acuity patients. These experiences spurred his passion to change the way specialty care is delivered and motivated him to build solutions that would fill existing care gaps. The founding team brought together expertise from Google/Verily Life Sciences (Tom Stanis as co-founder and Head of Software at Verily), product design from YouTube and Google (Nikhil Roy), clinical cardiology expertise (Dr. Ashul Govil, board-certified cardiologist), and healthcare business leadership from Athenahealth, Castlight Health, Honor, and Carbon Health (Nita Patel).
