Digital Pathology Alliance Aims to Streamline AI-Powered Cancer Diagnostic Development
Imagene AI's integration with Proscia's platform creates end-to-end pathway for pharmaceutical companies to develop companion diagnostics from discovery through clinical deployment.

Imagene AI has joined the Proscia Ready Partner Alliance in a collaboration designed to accelerate the development of AI-powered companion diagnostics for cancer treatment. The partnership integrates Imagene AI's image-analysis capabilities with Proscia's Concentriq platform, creating what the companies describe as a streamlined pathway for pharmaceutical companies, diagnostic assay and platform providers, and contract research organizations to develop immunohistochemistry (IHC)-based companion diagnostics from initial biomarker discovery through clinical deployment.
Bridging Research and Clinical Deployment
The integration combines Imagene AI's H&E and IHC image-analysis tools with Proscia's digital pathology infrastructure. According to the announcement, it will support H&E-based patient screening tools to inform molecular testing, as well as AI-powered image analysis for developing IHC-based companion diagnostic programs. Proscia's Concentriq platform is currently used by 16 of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies and leading CROs, and is deployed in diagnostic laboratories managing millions of patient cases annually, according to the companies.
Imagene AI's technical capabilities include high-definition cell and sub-cellular segmentation, AI-driven feature identification for clinical population differentiation, continuous and advanced spatial scoring, and patient population stratification tools. The Concentriq platform provides a GxP-compliant environment for building, validating, and deploying algorithms across global trials, addressing regulatory requirements that have historically complicated multi-site diagnostic development.
"This collaboration with Proscia enables us to bring our advanced AI-powered IHC tools to a broader audience," said Michael Hreczuck, SVP of Business Development at Imagene AI. The integration is intended to streamline collaboration and reduce workflow fragmentation across research, validation, and deployment phases of companion diagnostic development.
The Proscia Ready Alliance
Proscia Ready is an alliance of solution providers helping diagnostic laboratories and life sciences organizations scale digital pathology. The alliance combines interoperable technologies, coordinated customer support, and a shared vision for continued innovation, helping organizations reduce the complexity of implementing and managing solutions from multiple vendors.
By making Imagene AI's quantitative image-analysis capabilities accessible to Proscia's customers, organizations will be able to incorporate AI-powered workflows while benefiting from centralized image and data management, according to the announcement.
Commercial Validation and Market Position
Imagene AI brings commercial precedent to the partnership. The company's LungOI product is described as the first AI-based non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) multi-gene biomarker panel to receive a PLA code and CMS payment rate, and has been validated and deployed across multiple centers globally. This reimbursement milestone positions the company as it expands from single-assay developer to platform-enabled solutions provider.
Stephan Fromme, Head of Business Development at Proscia, noted that the collaboration "empowers our partners to complement their tissue-diagnostic capabilities with advanced AI-powered image analysis."
Implications for Precision Oncology
For pharmaceutical companies developing targeted therapies, the integration potentially accelerates companion diagnostic development timelines by providing standardized AI tools that can be incorporated into global laboratory workflows. This standardization may improve consistency and efficiency in multi-site studies, where variability in pathology interpretation has historically posed challenges.
For diagnostic assay and platform providers and CROs, the partnership enables access to quantitative AI pathology tools that go beyond conventional scoring methods for IHC-based biomarkers. By streamlining the companion diagnostic development pathway, the collaboration may accelerate the availability of precision oncology tools that enable more accurate patient stratification and treatment selection.
