About CodaMetrix

CodaMetrix is transforming healthcare revenue cycle management with its AI-powered contextual coding automation platform, CMX CARE™. Founded in 2019 and built by providers for providers, the company emerged from a homegrown solution developed by the Massachusetts General Physician Organization's billing office to code complex, multispecialty cases. The platform converts clinical data and chargeable activities across health systems into consistent billable, clinical, and demographic coding, creating a longitudinal view of the patient and coding at the first opportunity so no data is left behind. CodaMetrix's technology continuously learns in real time from coding decisions made by coding teams at top-performing health systems, applying codes across service lines while auditing against the latest payer-specific guidelines. The platform supports both facility-based and professional fee coding, reducing manual coding by 70%, cutting direct coding costs by over 30%, and delivering an average 5:1 ROI over five years. Named Best in KLAS 2026 for Autonomous Medical Coding, CodaMetrix serves major health systems representing $180 billion in net patient revenue, including Mass General Brigham, University of Colorado Medicine, Oregon Health and Science University, UMass Memorial Health, University of Miami Health System, and others. The company's approach embraces a 'code once, use many' philosophy that creates consistent, scalable coding accuracy serving multiple purposes across reimbursement, quality, and research.

Mission & Story

Mission

To transform medical coding from a burden into a strategic advantage

Founding Story

CodaMetrix evolved from a homegrown solution developed by the Massachusetts General Physician Organization's billing office at Mass General Brigham to code complex, multispecialty cases. When traditional Computer Assisted Coding (CAC) and rules-based NLP tools fell short, the physician organizations at Mass General Brigham took matters into their own hands—building what would become CodaMetrix. The company was purpose-built by providers, for providers, with the belief that doctors should spend more time practicing medicine—not coding it—and coders should have technology that helps them focus where their expertise is needed most.
