About MIC

The Division pioneers research in machine learning and information processing to improve cancer patient care through systematic image data analytics. They structure and quantify imaging information from multiple time-points and technologies (MRI, CT), linking it with clinical and biological parameters. As initiator and co-coordinator of the Helmholtz Imaging Platform, they pursue cutting-edge computer science developments with applications in and beyond medicine, focusing on semantic segmentation, object detection, unsupervised learning, and probabilistic modeling.
