Virtual chronic care management platform Omada Health has reached a significant turning point, posting its first profitable quarter in company history while simultaneously raising its full-year financial outlook. The publicly traded digital health company reported $7 million in net income for Q3 2026, a dramatic reversal from the $3 million loss recorded in the same period last year, according to financial results announced this week.

The company's leadership attributes the milestone largely to artificial intelligence implementations that have fundamentally changed how care teams operate, enabling clinicians to manage larger patient panels while maintaining personalized care. This efficiency gain comes as Omada serves 1.1 million members across its diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and musculoskeletal condition programs—a 36% increase year-over-year.

Record Revenue Growth Driven by Improved Member Economics

Omada's Q3 2026 revenue reached $91 million, representing a 34% increase compared to the prior year. The company achieved adjusted EBITDA of $12 million, up from just $2 million in Q3 2025, with gross margins hitting 76% on a GAAP basis and 78% on a non-GAAP basis.

Perhaps more telling than top-line growth are the underlying metrics that suggest the business model has fundamentally improved. Member retention climbed to 58%, up sharply from 43% in Q4 2024, while average member tenure extended to 2 years and 4 months—a 10% increase year-over-year. Revenue per member on a trailing 12-month basis reached $294, up 5% from the previous year.

These improvements in unit economics prompted management to raise the company's 2026 outlook, now projecting revenue of $344-346 million (up from $334-340 million) and adjusted EBITDA of $32-34 million (up from $21-27 million).

AI Enables Care Team Efficiency at Scale

The company's path to profitability centers on AI-powered tools that allow care teams to increase capacity while personalizing interventions. According to the earnings report, these AI solutions enable clinicians to "apply their clinical expertise" more efficiently, reducing the cost-to-serve while maintaining or improving clinical outcomes.

Omada's strategic partnerships are also expanding. The company extended its relationship with Health Care Services Corporation (HCSC) to three additional states, potentially reaching 1.5 million additional covered lives in 2027. On the pharmaceutical side, Omada now has commercial contracts with the three largest pharmacy benefit managers, which collectively processed 80% of prescription claims in 2025. The company's prescribing program is currently live at Optum.

The GLP-1 care companion program, launched in November 2025, represents Omada's integration of digital support with pharmaceutical interventions for obesity management. The company noted that the selling season for GLP-1 coverage decisions has extended, suggesting employers are taking a measured approach to obesity care benefit design given the financial commitment involved.

Leadership Transition and Market Response

Omada announced that Wei-Li Shao, currently serving as President, will assume the CEO role on January 1, 2027. Despite the strong quarterly results, the company's stock declined 19% following the earnings call, reportedly due to investor concerns about Q4 enrollment moderation.

The profitability milestone nonetheless marks a significant validation point for the digital chronic disease management sector, demonstrating that AI-enabled virtual care can achieve financial sustainability while maintaining patient engagement over multi-year periods.
