BACKGROUND: The new noninvasive Vitalstream (VS) continuous physiological monitor (Caretaker Medical LLC, Charlottesville, Virginia), allows continuous cardiac output by a low pump-inflated, finger cuff that pneumatically couples arterial pulsations via a pressure line to a pressure sensor for detection and analysis.
