Abstract

Optoacoustic imaging, based on the differences in optical contrast of blood hemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin, is uniquely suited for the detection of breast vasculature and tumor microvasculature with the inherent capability to differentiate hypoxic from the normally oxygenated tissue.
